There are a lot of arguments that the liberal left makes against the Second Amendment, and very few of them have anything to do with the actual reasoning behind the right.

For starters, let us not forget that the Second Amendment’s true purpose is to protect us against those who would take the inalienable right away.  In fact, the right to bear arms is essentially inactive until that time arrives.

If you look at the attitude in America today, there is little doubt that the left is pushing us in this direction.

But it must exist at all times.  It’s not a “turn it off, turn it on” sort of situation.  The minute we attempt any sort of pause, break, repeal, rescinding, or redefining of the un-infringeable, the left will take that inch and turn it into a mile.

So, as a piece of collateral goodness, the Second Amendment has allowed a number of law abiding and wholesome patriots to curb violence in some of the more dire situations that we find ourselves in.  Just this week, in Oklahoma, this was once again demonstrated.

Second Amendment is in action, according to police An armed citizen with a pistol stopped a shooter at an Oklahoma City restaurant Thursday. The shooting occurred at Louie’s Grill & Bar in Oklahoma City. According to police, a man entered the restaurant and opened fire, shooting two people before an armed man confronted and shot him outside the restaurant.

“Multiple shootings reported in the area of Britton/Hefner Parkway,” tweeted Oklahoma City police. “Roads in the area have been shut down. Avoid area. More updates as available.”

Incredible.  Local law enforcement was quick to respond to the situation, and even updated citizens via Twitter.

Once again, the “good guy with a gun” argument becomes a poignant and powerful piece of our national discussion.

As we continue to struggle with the left’s inability to understand the Second Amendment, it is important that we share stories such as this one, as it helps to reiterate the narrative that Americans are mostly good, and they want their communities to be safe and protected.
