In the wake of the Parkland, Florida and Santa Fe, Texas school shootings of earlier this year, the liberal left has gone on a rampage of sorts, attacking the Second Amendment with a wild fervor.

This isn’t anything new, per se, as the liberal media has always stoked the fires of democratic hatred for the right to bear arms, hoping to prey on the emotional nature of these events to further their agenda among the mostly young, impressionable voters that they rely on.

What’s different this time around is just how vocal their opponents on the conservative side of things have been.  Perhaps bolstered by the nation’s conservative awakening, the right wing, pro-gun faction has explained, in no uncertain terms, just how best to protect the children of the nation; the left is simply refusing to listen.

Now, one school system in Virginia has moved beyond trying to explain their logic to illogical liberals, and are moving ahead with their own common sense plan to protect students.

Virginia’s Lee County school district voted to arm teachers and pay for their guns and training.

Lee County is the first in the state to allow teachers to be armed.

WJHL quotes  Lee County School Board Chairman Michael Kidwell saying, “The only way to fight a gun if somebody comes through these doors with a gun to shoot our students, is with another gun.”

School board member Rob Hines added, “At least it gives us a chance. If we sat there and did nothing, I couldn’t sleep at night. At least we’re trying to do something.”

Members of the board also noted that arming teachers was the most cost efficient means of increasing school safety. And numerous teachers have already volunteered to carry guns.

In the grand scheme of safety, having more armed security at our schools is the only surefire, immediately applicable solution to the problem.  All other attempts rely on either laws, (that criminals don’t obey), or fewer security personnel who are more prone to cold foot…just as we’ve seen numerous times already this year.

Now, if we could only convince the rest of the nation to give it a shot.
