There is little doubt that Donald Trump was the only choice in the 2016 election when it comes to bolstering our nation’s military, despite his own dubious draft behavior.

That’s not to say that Trump doesn’t respect the military.  In fact, his inclination to hire a number of high ranking U.S. generals to massively important posts within his cabinet says otherwise.  Chalk the President’s former misjudgments up to being young and rich, let’s say, as there’s no denying now where the Commander in Chief stands.

Given the recent metamorphosis that Independence Day and Memorial Day have gone through, turning from somber reminders of those we’ve lost to excuses to buy a new barbecue grill, the President’s move could have a significant impact on the way our young people learn about the might and sacrifice of our armed forces.

The event would double as a deterrent to nations such as North Korea, who themselves organize several such displays in any given year.

If there are going to be a number of urination competitions predicated on the power of a nation’s military happening throughout the world, the United States should at least win, right?
