Sweet Sixteen birthday parties are supposed to be just that….sweet! However, this party turned sour very quickly as a fight broke out, and ended in an officer involved shooting. Yikes. Talk about a birthday to remember.

Georgia seems to be in the news a lot lately. Perhaps the crazies are coming out for summer? Cobb County police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) were on the scene where gunfire broke out.

WSBTV reports:

It happened outside the 300 block of Riverside Parkway at the Elegant Point Event Hall in Cobb County.

A witness told Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach his uncle was just trying to break up a fight when he fired shots into the air.

At the same time, an officer working security across the street at a QuikTrip had been flagged down, and ran over to the scene.

The family said it was a Sweet 16 party birthday party.

According to Cobb police, the officer felt there was a threat and so he fired. The suspect was hit by the officer’s shot and then taken to the hospital.

No other details have been given at this time.
