In our nation today, we have grown unfortunately accustomed to news of mass shootings occurring nearly monthly.  June, sadly, looks to be no exception.

Late in the afternoon on Thursday, a shooter entered the office of the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland and opened fire.

At least five people were killed and several others were “gravely injured” during a shooting at the newsroom of the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland, Thursday afternoon, local officials said. An unidentified suspect is in custody, Anne Arundel Sheriff Ron Bateman told Fox News.

A possible motive was unclear.

Authorities were called to the scene at Bestgate Road around 2:40 p.m. following word of an active shooter, Anne Arundel County Police Lt. Ryan Frashure told reporters. An investigation is underway but “at this point we believe that it is one suspect,” he said.

Oddly, the incident occurred on June 28, two weeks and one year after James T. Hodgkinson opened fire on the GOP’s charity baseball team.  That shooting, thought by many to be the first shots of the New Civil War, or “War Between The Aisles”, was preempted by Kathy Griffin’s gruesome Trump beheading stunt…also by 14 days.
Also of note, police had earlier responded to the call of an active shooter at the Baltimore Sun, the newspaper company that owns the Capital Gazette where the shooting took place.
Unsurprisingly, the first reaction from many on the left wasn’t one of disgust or grief, but rather opportunity.

Of course, without a motive, this tweet is completely dysfunctional.

This guy probably has an autographed copy of “What Happened”.

Certainly, we will be revisiting this story in the days to come.
