Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro once said he’d like to punch President Donald Trump in the face.

He’s not a fan of the commander-in-chief, to say the least, just like most of his peers in Hollywood.

Now, De Niro thinks Beto O’Rourke, Sen. Ted Cruz’s opponent in Texas, can defeat Trump for the presidency in 2020.

Based on what, considering Beto is likely to lose to Cruz in his home state, is anyone’s guess.

From Breitbart:

Actor Robert De Niro floated the idea that perhaps Beto O’Rourke can take on President Donald Trump in 2020, despite the fact that the Texas Democrat likely won’t win his race for Republican Ted Cruz’s Senate seat.

“We all know my thought about the president and we have a more important thing now and that’s working to get rid of him,” Robert De Niro told Bloomberg News, in reference to President Trump.

The Goodfellas actor also said that “you need somebody strong that can beat [Trump] at his own game.”

“You have to offer things that are as real as they can possibly be. You can’t promise anything — I mean, when you’re a politician you say, ‘I want to do this, I want to do that.’ And you have to have things that are going to inspire people to want to believe in you, as opposed to the nonsense that’s being put out by this guy,” De Niro said.

Most people on both sides of the aisle were shocked when Nikki Haley announced her resignation as ambassador to the United Nations, effective at the end of the year.

Why do this now?

According to MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, it is because Haley may run for president in 2020 on the GOP side – but President Trump will not.

Say what?

From Newsmax:

Political pundit and former congressman Joe Scarborough floated a theory Wednesday morning that soon-to-be-former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley may run for president in 2020 — an election he said will not include President Donald Trump.

“There’s always been talk about Nikki Haley running, possibly running, in 2020. If my theory holds, Donald Trump won’t seek reelection,” Scarborough said.

For what it’s worth, Haley did not reveal her post-UN plans but did say she will not run for president in 2020.

Haley did not have time for the “anonymous source” who wrote an op-ed hit piece on Trump for the New York Times.

She makes her thoughts about the leaker abundantly clear in an op-ed of her own.

Here’s the scoop, via The Daily Wire:

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has no sympathy for the senior official in the White House who penned an anonymous op-ed earlier this week in The New York Times.

In her own op-ed for The Washington Post, titled, “When I challenge the president, I do it directly. My anonymous colleague should have, too,” she criticizes the official for attempting to undermine President Donald Trump.

“The author might think he or she is doing a service to the country,” Haley writes. “I strongly disagree. What this ‘senior official in the Trump administration’ has done, and is apparently intent on continuing to do, is a serious disservice — not just to the president but to the country.”

Haley is considered a “frontrunner,” if you will, for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.
