Make no mistake about it, the Second Amendment is under attack in 2018 thanks to the emotional reverberations of the left’s exploitation of tragedy.

And which tragedy are we discussing?  Well, any of them, really.  There have certainly been a number of horrific mental illness-inspired rampages to speak of, and the liberals haven’t missed a single opportunity to spin these events into some sort of gun-control conspiracy.

Sure, there have been a great many dissenting voices as well, including conservative school shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv, but these outlooks have been largely stifled by the gargantuan influence of the leftist mainstream media.  Instead, we are left with the talking heads with bleeding hearts who fill our television screens and newsfeeds with their unconstitutional drivel.

The people of Oregon have noticed this nonsense, are are now taking up for the all-important amendment.

About 75 people turned out for a rally in Pendleton on Saturday morning to support their right to own and carry firearms.

The group gathered at Til Taylor Park in a coordinated effort with other gun-rights rallies throughout Oregon.

HollyJo Beers, vice-lead of the Oregon Three Percenters of Umatilla County, helped organize the event. She told the audience they needed to stand up for themselves, and for the Second Amendment of the Constitution, which reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

“What part of ‘shall not be infringed’ don’t they understand?” she asked.

The crowd also heard from Rob Lovett, a Greater Hermiston Area Tea Party member, who asked people to get out and vote against Initiative Petitions 43 and 44 in November.

“If these measures pass, your arms will be locked up,” he said.

Measure 43 proposes a statewide ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Measure 44 would require Oregon gun owners to comply with several requirements for their firearms, including specific storage rules, directly supervising any child who uses their gun, reporting a lost or stolen gun within 24 hours, and taking full liability for any injury caused with their gun, except when defending themselves or someone else.

Not only are Oregonians protesting, but they are also legislating

A group of community members is pushing for an ordinance they say would protect Jackson County from violations of the Second Amendment.

They say the effort, called a Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance, would essentially void any current or future state laws that would impose unconstitutional regulations on the sale and possession of firearms.

According to the SAPO, the Jackson County Sheriff would bear the burden of determining which laws are constitutional and which are violations.

“Preserving our Second Amendment becomes more and more important,” said Jason Williams, Chief Petitioner for the SAPO. “Limiting constitutional protected rights and taking guns away from law-abiding citizens is in no way going to prevent any kind of crime, and it’s been proven time and time again.”

On Wednesday morning, Williams presented the SAPO to County Commissioners during a regularly scheduled meeting. He said this is one of several attempts he’s made to institute the ordinance in Jackson County over the past year, but now is a more crucial time than ever.

“It’s necessary because our rights are getting slowly stripped away and stripped away,” he said.

Now if we could only get this sort of common sense to spread throughout the nation, as opposed to being relegated to minuscule pockets of anti-progressive protesters…
