Several years ago, Ohio’s legislature did something smart. They passed a bill, that was signed into law, that allows teachers and faculty members to undergo special training, obtain a concealed carry permit and carry their weapons with them at school, providing the district approves. This measure was seen as the best way to protect students. In the first year of the new law, over 1,000 teachers and faculty members signed up for the training.

In response to the Florida school shooting, Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones announced that his department would offer free concealed carry weapons classes to teachers and faculty members in Butler County only.

To date, over 250 educators have signed up for the training, which was set at a maximum of 50.

The outspoken sheriff said the time has come to arm educators…

I heard Sheriff Brown on the local news saying that in most instances, by the time his department could arrive on scene at an active school shooting, most of the shooting is over and people are dead. He said that by training and arming teachers, it gives them to be the first responders with the ability to stop the shooter(s) and save lives. In today’s America, Brown has the best idea on how to protect kids, but it’s sad to see so many who disagree and fail to understand.
