Teachers are not only one of our nations’ greatest resources, but they are also at the center of one of the most unenviable debates in American history.

After the events of Parkland, Florida last month, the nation is once again on the path to massive soul searching over the Second Amendment, and ho best to protect it from the lunatic fringes of leftist society.  These democratic dunces have latched on to the tragedy, cozying up to the unusually well-educated population of Stoneman Douglas High School in order to procure cheap or free content for their television “news” programming.

And they certainly found what they were looking for.  Kids like David Hogg have become a firebrand in recent weeks, drawing sharp criticism for his overly fascist and authoritarian ideologies that all share the precursor proposition of abolishing the right to bear arms.

Reminds us a little bit of a loud and angry Austrian fella from the 30’s and 40’s.

During this national debate, one concept has been discussed more than the others:  Whether or not we should be arming the teachers who educate our children.

In most locales, the teachers have not yet been armed, with the exception of a bucket of rocks in Pennsylvania.

That’s why one New York State educator took a major risk in exercising her Second Amendment Rights at work – and it looks as though she may pay for it dearly.

A New York educator with a concealed carry permit was charged with a felony after she was found with a 9mm handgun in her purse on campus.

Gillian L. Jeffords, 24, of Warwick, was charged Wednesday with criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, a Class E felony, after a co-worker saw the pistol inside her purse in the closet of an empty classroom and called 911, according to the Clarkstown Police Department. A school resource officer took Jeffords into custody after the school went into lockdown.

“At no point was this weapon displayed or used in a threatening manner by the teacher’s aide,” says a release from CPD, the agency that arrested Jeffords at the Jesse J. Kaplan School Campus in West Nyack, where she has worked since last September. Rockland BOCES Schools, the district that runs Kaplan, noted that “students and staff are safe,” and that they are working with Clarkstown Police on the resulting investigation.

While Jeffords certainly could be guilty of an error in judgement here by not refreshing her knowledge of her employer’s policy here, the real issue is that her right to bear arms here was certainly infringed upon – an expressly forbidden maneuver according to the American Constitution.

Also, given the incredible attention that the left continues to give to those who are milking the Parkland tragedy for their own gain, (David Hogg), there is little doubt that some child in the future will make a similarly tragic decision to attack his colleagues, beginning the cycle of progressive noise all over again.
