New Jersey’s self-professed Republican governor, Chris Christie, may have been liberal in many things, but for the most part he was more a champion for gun rights than many of his adversaries in the state. Since New Jersey law says a governor can only be elected for 2 consecutive terms, Christie could not run in the last governor’s election. Democrat Phil Murphy easily won the governor’s seat in the 2017 election and was sworn into office on January 16, 2018, less than a month ago.

The staunch Obamanite Democrat has wasted no time to fulfill his promise to pass a number of gun control laws in the Garden State, by hosting an anti-gun ‘roundtable’ where he laid out a number of gun control items he wants to get passed.

(Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs) –  February 13.  Today, Governor Murphy held an anti-gun “roundtable” in Cherry Hill featuring a who’s who of local and national gun ban extremists.  Attendees included representatives of CeaseFire, NJ, Mom’s Demand Action, Everytown for Gun Safety, the Million Mom March, Gabby Giffords, clergy members, Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald (D6), and the Cherry Hill mayor and police chief.

“How can they call it a ’round table’ when there was no one to speak for NJ’s one million law-abiding gun owners,” asked ANJRPC Executive Director Scott Bach  “They always talk about wanting to have a ‘conversation’ about gun issues – this was more like a monologue.  They need to focus on severely punishing violent gun criminals instead of banning tools needed by honest citizens to defend themselves.”

During the meeting, while paying lip service to the Second Amendment, more of the upcoming anti-gun legislative agenda was revealed, and it included:

–          Ban on magazines over 10 rounds

–          A new smart gun law giving a political commission control over the ban…

Gov. Murphy has made it clear that if given the chance, he would ban all private ownership of all firearms in his state. Additionally, he has alluded to the idea that does not intend to honor any national conceal carry reciprocity law and will likely join with other Democratic leaders to legally challenge such a law if passed.
