Generally, in the month or so following a mass shooting or school shooting, liberal politicians around the nation devise all kinds of really stupid ideas that they believe will help save lives, and the ones in New Jersey may have just come up with the granddaddy of all dumb ideas.

A bill is being introduced into the New Jersey legislature to require that every school would be equipped with a panic button and red flashing emergency lights. The alarm sounded by the panic button won’t be heard at the school but will be heard at the local police office. When pushed, as in the case of a shooting, the school then waits for police to respond and this is supposed to save kids’ lives.

(New York Post) – A proposed New Jersey bill mandating panic buttons and red emergency lights in schools is named for a former Bergen County teen killed in last month’s Florida school shooting.

Alyssa Alhadeff, just 14, was slain at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland on Feb. 14 in a horrifying massacre that redoubled national attention on school security.

Dubbed “Alyssa’s Law,” the legislation would require all schools to have a dedicated panic button for use during school shootings and other dire emergencies.

The device would not be audible at the school but would immediately alert authorities…

The problem with most school shootings is that it takes law enforcement time to respond and it’s during that time when most students and teachers are shot and killed, so once the panic button is pushed, the slaughter continues. Nothing in the post indicates where the panic button is located, which means it could be in one building and the shooting in another and no one in the building with the panic button knows what’s happening in the other building. There are just so many things wrong with this kind of bill, but then what do you expect out of anti-gun liberals who think with their hearts and not their minds?
