Many liberals have been taunting the fact that gun sales in the US has slowed since Donald Trump was sworn into office. They failed to realize that the reason was that Americans in general are not as afraid of losing their Second Amendment rights under a Trump presidency than when Obama was in office. After the rash of terrorist attacks in Europe and the increase threats that they will happen in the US, nearly 2 million Americans underwent background checks for gun purchases in the month of May, setting a new record for the month.

Gun purchase background checks soared to a record for the month of May, snapping a five-month streak of year-over-year declines since President Trump was elected, and suggesting the demand for guns is once again picking up amid world tumult.

More than 1.9 million checks were run through the federal government’s database in May, which is an increase of about 70,000 from the previous May.

The numbers helped to dispel worries about a post-Obama “Trump slump” in gun sales, with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, an industry group, saying their own calculations of data from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System suggest a healthy market.

Americans are arming themselves for self-protection against terrorists and criminals, a right the British people do not have. When Islamic terrorists bring their senseless acts of murder to the streets of America, hopefully some legally armed citizens will be able to respond and end the threat before police arrive, thus saving lives and proving there is still a need for our Second Amendment right to bear arms.
