When Americans are forced to respond to a crisis, there is an immediate sense of urgency to create protocols intent on preventing such tragedy from occurring again.

Such has been the case in the aftermath of a mental illness-induced rampage in Florida last week that saw 17 students killed at Stoneman Douglas High School in the city of Parkland.

In the case of this particular incident, 19 year old Nikolas Cruz has confessed to the killings, claiming that he was hearing “demonic voices” in his head that forced him to carry out his massacre.

“The 19-year-old who is accused of killing 17 people and injuring dozens more when he opened fire on a South Florida high school Wednesday afternoon told investigators that he heard voices in his head, giving him instructions on what to do to conduct the attack, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

“The voices were described as ‘demons’ by law enforcement sources.

“Those who knew suspect Nikolas Cruz described him as a troubled teen who was largely alone in the world. An attorney for the family who had taken Cruz in after his adoptive mother died said he was ‘depressed’ following her death but had been going to therapy…”

This obvious cause of concern has been largely glossed over by the mainstream media, however, who have commandeered these deaths as a way to attack the Second Amendment, hoping to appease their liberal overlords in the process.

But while the media and their cronies argue over the impetus of the catastrophe, American teachers are preparing themselves for the worst.

“Texas teachers and parents continue to flock to firearms training courses and active shooter preparedness workshops in response to the recent wave of school threats and the February shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school that left 14 defenseless students and three faculty members dead.

“A group of teachers, principals, and school nurses in the Aransas Pass Independent School District spent Saturday in a half-day licensed to carry (LTC) course that local law enforcement officers held free of charge. Aransas Pass Police Captain Lynn Pearce told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that ‘a lot of teachers’ expressed interest in attending this handgun licensing class. ‘So we decided to have a special class for Aransas Pass ISD employees.’”

This news comes after an Ohio sheriff offered a firearms training class to 50 local teachers, but was soon overwhelmed with over 250 RSVP’s.

Obviously, American teachers are interested in protecting themselves and their students, but the left simply isn’t having it.

At least we now know who is preventing progress from being made.
