Maryland has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. Their largest city, Baltimore has also been dubbed as the Deadliest Big City in America because of its having the highest homicide per capita rate in the nation.

Did you know that Maryland has no law that allows anyone to use a gun or any other form of lethal defense in protecting themselves, their loved ones or their homes? It shouldn’t be a surprise since the state is controlled by Democrats in both of the legislative houses. Their governor is a Republican, but some say he’s more like a Democrat.

Maryland’s House just passed 3 more gun control bills that now go to the Senate.

(Baltimore Sun) -With little debate, the Maryland House of Delegates on Thursday passed three gun control bills that expand the state’s assault weapons ban and creates ways to seize guns from dangerous people.

The chamber approved, 128-7, a ban on “bump stocks” and other devices that can turn a semi-automatic gun into a rapid fire one. Those after-market devices were used by the shooter in last year’s massacre that killed 58 at a Las Vegas concert.

House Minority Leader Nic Kipke, quoting the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, said there are limits to the Second Amendment right to bear arms. Adding bump stocks to the state’s existing assault weapons ban, he said, was “common sense” since the state and federal government already bans fully automatic weapons…

The Maryland Senate is expected to pass all 3 gun control bills and Maryland’s Republican Governor Larry Hogan has said he will sign them when they get to his desk. Being a legal gun owner in Maryland and not knowing if you can legally defend yourself, your loved ones or your home, I know of several people who have moved to other states that are more gun friendly.
