A few days ago, we reported that gun control was a very controversial issue for politicians in Delaware running for office. It seems that it’s also a highly controversial issue for many of the current legislators as well.

Delaware is the political home of former Vice President Joe Biden who says he favors many more strict gun control laws, but it seems that not everyone in the state or the state legislature agree with Biden.

It seemed that a host of gun control bills were going nowhere and only producing a lot of talk and debate, so, Gov. John Carney, a typical anti-gun Democrat, called for a up-or-down vote on the gun control bills, and much to Carney’s dismay, the vote did not go well for gun control.

(Delaware Online) – It appears that Gov. John Carney is getting impatient on gun control.

On Wednesday, he called on lawmakers to hold an up-or-down vote on a slew of gun-control bills awaiting action in the Delaware General Assembly, although it is increasingly uncertain whether Democrats will be able to pass them all.

“I would encourage the members … in each chamber to give each of those pieces of legislation a vote,” Carney said. “And they can vote yes or they can vote no.”

The governor’s comments came as three of the most high-profile bills are having trouble gaining traction, including a proposed assault weapon ban he demanded.

The proposed ban – by far the most contentious of the bills – was supposed to have a committee hearing Wednesday, a crucial first step that later was postponed…

At a public meeting to discuss gun control measures in Delaware, it appeared that more than half of the 700 people that crowded the room were gun rights supporters and they actively shouted down the gun control advocating Democrats on stage. It’s clear that there are many in Delaware that still treasure their Second Amendment rights and they are standing up and being heard.
