There is often harmony in the face of the truly vile and repugnant, and the latest shocking news out of the gaming world has Americans of all political backgrounds disgusted.

A new video game called “Active Shooter” has hit the market, where you can predictably play out the scenario of an active shooter situation from the perspective of either the police or the shooter.  Obviously, parents are livid, especially those who have recently been a dealt a heavy loss at the hands of one of these maniacs.

“I have seen and heard many horrific things over the past few months since my daughter was the victim of a school shooting and is now dead in real life. This game may be one of the worst,” said Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was among the students killed during February’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, in a statement on Twitter.

“The last thing we need is a simulated training on school shootings,” said Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was killed in Parkland, in an interview with The Miami Herald. “Video game designers should think of the influence they hold. This really crosses the line.”

Lawmakers have also begun to demonstrate their disgust as well.

While the debate over the effects of violent video games may never be fully resolved, the previous battles on the subject don’t hold a candle to what we’re seeing today.  Games such as Mortal Kombat and Grand Theft Auto are certainly not for everyone, but Active Shooter isn’t for anyone.
