Atlanta traffic is brutal. If you aren’t from Atlanta, just imagine 10  lanes of interstate completely gridlocked, while you inch along every few minutes. Sounds like a nightmare, right? Well it just got a lot worse. The metro area took a hard hit when I-85 collapsed, but we were able to avoid to the extreme aftermath for a bit, since it happened just before Spring Break.

Monday, families are back from vacation, parents go back to work, and kids go back to school. This means that the alternative routes around I-85 will now be overloaded as well.

Atlanta’s Mayor, Kasim Reed, is now warning residents not to leave for work on Monday without a full tank of gas.

He is also encouraging work places to stagger their starting times in order to alleviate some of the traffic.

So brace yourself for the worst, and hope for the best. It sounds like commuting to work on Monday, and for the unforeseeable future, won’t be a walk in the park.
