How many times have we hears that Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in all the nation and yet ranks among the top locations for gun violence and gun related homicides? It’s not unheard of for them to be 30-50 shooting victims per weekend in the Windy City.

With all of the super-strict gun control laws, there still seem to be a flood of guns on the streets of Chicago and guess what? Yep, most of them are illegal guns, meaning that they were not purchased or obtained legally.

That’s what ATF agents were in Chicago, trying to stop the flow of illegal firearms, when one agent was shot and wounded in the line of duty.

(ABC 7 Chicago) – A federal agent wounded in the line of duty early Friday was part of a specialized unit aimed at intercepting illegal gun shipments to Chicago.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm’s Gun Crime Strike Force was formed last June in response to a surge in Chicago shootings, many of them directed by street gangs.

The special ATF team began slowly, with federal officers recruited from around the nation to report to Chicago. Task-force staffing has now ramped up to 40 law enforcement agents, about half from ATF and half deployed by Chicago police.

The task force has been focused on getting assault-style rifles out of the hands of street gang members. Many of those weapons smuggled into the city limits from out of state…

What’s happening in Chicago, Los Angeles and Baltimore, to name just a few cities with really strict gun control laws, proves that gun control doesn’t only NOT stop gun violence but it often leads to more criminal activity is the stealing, transporting and selling those stolen guns. Just open News on Google and click on Firearms and look at all of the notices of guns being stolen and criminals caught with illegal guns and you’ll see what I mean.
